Speaking in April
I'll be at the Black Business Professionals Conf in Savannah on April 23, 2005.
I start at 2:30 PM on the Insider Information on PR. I have never been to Savannah and I hear it's lovely, so I am going to try and see as much as I can. April is busy month, that being the third event already.

Mothers day show
Our Mother's Day show is the flagship show of the year
Its a lot of fun to plan and do, and its one of the few live shows I do each year.
everything else is to tape. People started contacting me last month, so I started working on it. Southern California Edison is our Presenting sponsor and we have some great things in store for those who attend this year. I dont want to give anything away, so I better stop talking right now. On the At Wright Place you can check out the sponsor pages and see the things that the audience members got last year.

The Proper way to cash in on PR!
On monday ,a national holiday when most of her target demographic is off from work and home and not on travel because they just got done traveling for the holidays, Oprah brings back Nate to talk about the Tsunami.
This is how you do publicity people! Oprah isnt even remotely tied to the Tsunami, however by bringing NATE who is on the show often and talking about it, she will stir up the publicity desired. Thats what you have to do, take a global or national event and boil it down to how you are involved, no matter how remotedly, if it makes some sense, you will get a story or interview out of it. Rumore says that Oprah paid for Marines to look for Nate's Mate, no word as to what they found. Oprah's STC time
( start of the show to the first cry) is down to 4 minutes ( with the car show) and YES I timed it! I am a professional! :)
Because we have been blasted with the images over and over, I dont think Nate can drop the STC time to lower than 4 minutes. I predict right around 6-9 minutes.
I'll have to look at it later cause I hope to be skiing in Wrightwood on Monday

Wow- we just did 2 great shows!
Donna Fox- From Credit Repair to Credit Millionaire. She gave good content and simple how to's on the show. She wants to create 1 million credit millionaires
I say Go for it! We was a great guest, then we talked with Collen Rickenbaucker on Biz Manners! I told her my main problem at lunches and dinners is the place settings are too close and once one person gets the wrong napkin the whole table is off. She taught us BMW- thats how you know what is yours. Thanks Collen! I cant wait for her next book on Biz Manners when dealing with other countries. We are gonna have to get her back.
Donna and I got to hang a little and I gave her a tour of Pasadena. I took her by the Bob Lucas Library and Literacy Center and she donated her book! Thanks!
So if you live in Altadena, you can get a library card and clean up your credit for FREE!!
Donna introduced me to LUSH Turns out we are both soap junkies and we both dont really like sausage! I wont go into how we got to that but we share the same sentiments about it.
And she brought some sun! Cali was sunny and warm for the first time in a while!

I also reread- There’s a Customer Born Every Minute- Joe Vitale
I recently met him and got an autographed copy. I have had a copy of this book for a few years now and it always helps jump start my imagination.
I am excited about Donna Fox coming to the show this week. She is the author of the book ‘Credit Repair to Credit Millionaire’. This attorney has system for creating the business credit you need to get things done!

Oprah and Nate and Essence News
First Essence Magazine has been completely bought out by Time Warner. It will be interesting to see how the magazine changes. I predict there will be a LOT more cigarette ads in there and an increase in black male bashing articles. Lets see what happens!
Oprah paid for ex marines to look for Nate's Friend. The syndicated entertainment news show “Extra” has reported that Winfrey’s Harpo Productions plans to send a producer to join Berkus in Arugam Bay, leading to speculation that she’ll do some sort of show on the tsunami in the near future. Returning live to interview Amber Frey Wednesday, Oprah opened the show with a commentary on the devastation in Asia and clips of Berkus’ account of the tragedy via telephone.

Los Angeles Auto show 2005
We ( Andre Berry-camera and I ) were at media day at the car show. Its was really fun. Its going to be a good show. We met James Brown from Fox Sport and got a great interview. Andre made friends with he and his 'crew' and we had a great interview. He is into cars- who knew? OK, apparently everyone but me! He was in a wheel chair because he broke his foot with a mistep, not because he has a lead foot. Andre made friends with his crew and had his own little fan club.
When we did our interview, in the backround, you could here them saying Andre's shooting and them scrambling over to watch the intervew.
We also met Elanor Mondale who has a show about car shows. Yes she s Mondales daughter, and has been traveling the world with her 2 co hosts to bring you info about cars from all over the globe. I think she is the only female host doing that. She also gave us some great info and insight on the volvo car designed by women.
Those 2 interviews made the show! I cant wait for you to see them.
Fav cars for me? Convertibles- corvet, cross fire, and panoz.
If you have not been to the car shows, they really are great. Ferrari has tasty treats, volvo has plenty of refreshments, and Porche has their own room, away from everyone else. Concept cars are on display everyone and of course Onstar and Selene and XM radio were on hand.

This WEEK
Ok, the year has begun!!
Oprah has a link where you can put your prayers for Nate down and there is a Nate update. Clearly he needs time before he can come on the show and talk about it but I know Oprah will be the first to get an exclusive.

We started off the year's show with Melanie Strick- the 5 Deadly Mistakes you can make in your business. I kept calling her Michelle Strick because I have an atty friend named Michelle Strickland. I call her Strick for short. Anyway, You hear me call Melanie the wrong name about 2 times on the show. Yikes, Melanie was a very good sport, and old habits die hard!
On the shows coming up , we will be talking about getting business credit, even being a credit millionaire- I never thought about it like this before I met Donna Fox, you dont want to miss that show. We will also be talking about business manners!
I got a great book to tell you about.

Top 10 Strategies
I wrote this and it is posted on the web on different places, however, I thought I could go ahead and post it here!
Top 10 Strategies to Boost Your Business for 2005
1. Blog- blogs are easy to use and maintain and give you the freedom of updating as little or as much as you want. You can have blogs where you write, create audio or even video if you want.
2. Power PR- More women business owners are understanding the power of Public Relations and making sure News Releases about them or their businesses go out about 5-9 times a year.
3. Mentoring-women are getting formal mentoring for the specific areas of their business they want to improve. They are also getting coaches. The secret to good coaching is the person coaching has to be able to prove their have already done what they are helping you do. Many will tell you I don’t have to gone to Chicago to tell you how to get there. But if you have gone to Chicago, you can tell me the BEST route, not just how to get there.
4. Ask For the SALE- Carl Turner who worked for Jay Abraham and created 4 Million dollars in sale for 4 months for him, says women don’t ask for the sale.
Ask for it with a straight voice, make it almost a statement, not a question. But Ask for the sale, don’t just make conversation.
5. Teleseminars- giving and getting them. This is a great way to connect with your customers or learn a new skill without the expense of travel. Webinars are going to quickly overshadow teleseminars because you can actually see the person and there will be no long distance charges applied.
6. Joint Ventures- Working with others who serve a similar client makes both businesses prosper. The Wright Place TV Show works with www.theartofrest.com

7. RSS- This is new but you can use RSS to get the information without surfing for it, it comes to your desktop, and your customers can get your information every time you update it. Those who know how to use RSS will jump ahead of everyone else. You need a RSS reader, the one at www.pluck.com is very useful in a lot of different ways.
8. Be Different- in order to get more sales, there must be something different about you. I heard of a theatre chain on the east coast that has the Egyptian theme. Now, if they can only find an alternative to the ‘Butter’ stuff, we’d all be healthier
9. Personalize- everyone is trying to make their business warmer to the customers. This holiday I was in the Philadelphia, San Antonio, and Orland Airports, all of them had live Christmas music- it was a nice touch for busy travels.
10. Mastermind- having a group of peers that you can brainstorm with , or try ideas out on is great. Your mastermind group needs to be functioning at the level you aspire to. Everyone working together to help each other grow their business. Have a set meeting time that cannot be changed.

Happy Holidays
This holiday I am not rushing around- I am relaxing. Surprisingly I have not been in long slow lines either. I am trying to slooooowwwww down and enjoy the little things about the holiday. I wish you the best of everything and God's love to spread on top!
